What we offer:

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy, aka individual counseling, helps treat people who suffer from trauma, depression, anxiety, life changes, or general emotional struggles. Also called talk therapy, individual therapy can have a beneficial effect on your mental health and well-being.

Individual therapy provides a safe and supportive space for you to open up about your experiences and feelings. With each session, making healthy changes, feeling better, and opening up gets simpler.

While you and your therapist will determine the specific goals and objectives of your personalized therapy, there are some general issues that it can help with:

  • Coping with everyday life

  • Inability to sleep

  • High anxiety

  • Regular depression

  • Eliminating or controlling troubling symptoms and emotions, such as anger

  • Life transitions, such as divorce, career changes, or death

  • Recovering from emotional, physical, sexual abuse, or trauma

Everyone Struggles at One Point or Another…

In our fast-paced, tech-heavy, and success-driven world, it can feel like everyone has the answers but you.

The reality is that anxiety, stress, depression, addiction, and other mental health issues are quite common. Also, the pressure people feel to excel can contribute to low self-worth, stress, and the desire to escape.

It’s common to feel unfulfilled or lose confidence, and a series of disappointments and setbacks can make it challenging to have hope for the future. Most individuals who feel worn-down purposeless think that they don’t need depression or anxiety counseling.

We can help you identify what you want in life, feel confident, and empowered to create a better life. We can help you work through depression and anxiety, so you can be free.  By working with our team, you can recover from old wounds, tap into your inner strength, and  develop a new sense of determination, purpose, and resilience.

EMDR Therapy - Trauma Specialty

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is an evidence-based mode of therapy that is very successful in helping people who suffer from trauma. It also helps treat anxiety, panic, depression, and many other emotional issues. Compared to traditional talk therapy, EMDR brings relatively quick relief for most people.

The EMDR technique uses a natural function of the body, rapid eye movement (REM), as its basis. Using the REM eye movement pattern, troubling memories are accessed and reprocessed by the brain. This helps you heal traumatic memories so that you can experience a more peaceful state. EMDR does not cause people to forget disturbing memories or events. Instead, it enables you to experience them with less distress.

EMDR effectively treats trauma from extreme experiences – such as a debilitating car accident or sexual abuse. In addition, it helps with everyday problems that could range from public speaking to a fear of spiders. You can also receive EMDR treatment to address memories that create low self-esteem, poor body image, feelings of powerlessness, and more.

“Masculinity is not the Enemy” - Michael Gurian

Men’s Counseling Services:

A lot of men live with anxiety and depression, but you don’t have to. Unfortunately, our culture discourages men from seeking help; but men have questions about how to be a good father, what is a reasonable request on a spouse, how to be assertive at work, etc. Men need a place to talk about their stressors, fears, substance usage, marriages, finances, spirituality and other things that worry them.

I often refer men to a support group such as:

Teens

You’re concerned about your teen’s behavior.

Lately, your son or daughter seems more irritable, depressed, or anxious

Your teen is having trouble in school. They don’t seem to be getting along with their peers and that’s left you feeling very concerned.

Adolescence is hard even in the best of situations. Teenagers face a combination of societal pressure, peer pressure, and academic pressure. Then, you add all of the changes they’re facing right now and everything going on in the world around them. At times, the stress can be debilitating. Your child is old enough to have their own thoughts, opinions, and identity. However, they still need guidance and support from you as their parent or caretaker. They may want independence, but they’re not quite ready for it yet. And, on top of it all, they are trying to create their own identity and figure out their place in the world. So, It’s no wonder so many teens experience mental health struggles.

Common issues that bring teens to counseling:

Forest Bathing - Walk & Talk Therapy

One advantage of the Walk and Talk Therapy option is that it brings the natural, restorative power of the outdoors into the therapy process. This could mean walking in a state park, going for a really easy hike or just walking through a peaceful neighborhood. Clients can even choose to walk their dogs during sessions if they'd like to.

When first meeting clients, Bobbi usually begins working with them in the office where they can get to know each other and begin making a game plan for therapy. At that point, if a client is interested in Walk and Talk Therapy, they could try out a session or two and see how it works for them.

It’s no secret that being outside in nature has a soothing effect. Anyone who has looked up through the branches of a massive tree or enjoyed a river’s gurgle knows this to be true. In the 1980s, Japanese scientists started studying this enigmatic phenomenon. They found that natural immersion has many benefits—including lowering blood pressure, improving mood, and reducing stress. The practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, was born.

Forest bathing isn’t a hike, picnic, or jog. And there is no actual body of water required—it’s simply about surrounding yourself in nature and allowing its sounds and rhythms to wash over you.
